Rainbow Road Trackcross #1
May 7, 2022 @ 8:00 am – May 8, 2022 @ 5:00 pm EDT
Last year’s track weekend was so nice, we’re doing it twice this year! Join us at Summit Point Motorsports Park for two days of “trackcross” – an autocross format where you run your car for best times, but on a real racetrack. We will be spending two days on the Jefferson Circuit, a paved course. Bring your daily driver, track car, OR join our $1,500 Cheap Car Challenge. Challenge details below.
Click here to register or use the blue button at the bottom of the page!
Event Rules
- Cars shall be split into classes based on type of vehicle (Street car or Challenge car), engine displacement, and drive wheels. All forced induction entries shall be placed in “2.5L and Above” class.
- One car may be split between a maximum of TWO drivers. If sharing a car, the first driver shall pick a two-digit number (i.e. 41) and the second driver shall pick the same number, but add a “1” to the start or end (i.e. 141 or 411) to expedite driver changes.
- Car numbers and classes must be displayed on both sides of the car in contrasting color.
- All registered drivers must work one work assignment over the course of the weekend. Work assignments will be made for you and shared prior to and at the event. Please do not miss your work assignment.
- Cars will be sent from the starting line one at a time, with the goal of running between Start and Finish in the shortest time possible.
- All times will be logged, and the best single time from each day will be used for placing in your class. Your best Saturday time and best Sunday time will be totaled, and the lowest number wins.
- Going off course will result in a DNF, and that time will not count for or against you.
- All drivers must have a helmet that meets Snell SA2010 or M2010 or newer standards. Helmets may be purchased or rented at a special Out Motorsports rate from OG Racing in Sterling, Virginia.
- All participants must wear closed-toe shoes while in a car or on the grid.

Cheap Car Challenge Rules
This year’s theme is Favorite Family Haulers – unsung heroes that were asked to grind it out for years with minimal thanks. Think sedans, minivans, wagons, and crossovers – maybe a hatch or coupe, but you gotta make a good case for it. No convertibles or body-on-frame trucks, SUVs, or vans may be entered, sorry.
We are adding more distinction of classing this year in an effort to keep competition more even! Cars will be split based on engine displacement and drive wheels. Anything with forced induction (turbo or supercharger) will be in the “over 2.5L” class.
- You have $1,500 to purchase a car that fits the theme.
- $1,500 budget includes purchase price and mechanical repairs or upgrades. Modifications for comfort (i.e. a Bluetooth head unit) do not count toward budget.
- If you already own a car that fits the theme, use KBB “Good” Trade-In Value to determine its value and thus, if it can be entered within the $1,500 budget. Take a screenshot of the stated value as your “Bill of Sale.” Click here to access the KBB tool.
- Parts may be sold from the car to increase your budget. For example, if your car comes with a nice radio and speakers that you sell for $100, that $100 may be used toward your overall budget.
- All cars entered must have a three-point seatbelt in good condition, tires with no dry rot or visible cracking, and fluids contained where the manufacturer intended. Please see here for the complete tech inspection form that will be used to evaluate your car at the event. Print this form and bring it with you!
- Keep. Your. Receipts. If you finish on the podium for the weekend (top three) in your class, we will verify your budget using your Bill of Sale and records kept for any sales or purchases.

We’re splitting classes up a bit more this year, to allow for more participants and closer competition!

Lodging
Out Motorsports is not coordinating lodging for this event. You are welcome to get an Airbnb with some friends, or reserve a hotel room nearby. You are also welcome to camp in our paddock space overnight.
We are working on securing a block of hotel rooms at a group rate, and will update this post with details.
Sponsors
We could not host this event without the generous support of our sponsors. Thanks to Toyota, Mazda, Michelin, Motul, Hawk Performance, Grease Monkey Gloves, and OG Racing for all they’ve done to get LGBTQ drivers out on track in 2022!
Guests/Crew/Spectators
Some of you will want to come hang out for the weekend but not drive and compete. We cannot have random spectators but we CAN have crew for each registered driver!
IF YOU WANT TO COME AND NOT DRIVE READ THIS:
You will need to buddy up with someone who is a registered driver. If your friend is registered and needs you as crew, great. If you don’t know anyone but want to come witness the debauchery, contact us and we’ll see who has space for crew members. Give your driver water, keep their windshield clean, whatever. Be their crew and you can magically be on-site with us. You will sign the same waiver at the gate as everyone else but write “Crew” there instead of “Driver.”
Once you know who your driver is, fill out this form. Each registered driver may have one free crew member. A second crew member may be added for $20.
Refunds
We get it – sometimes things come up and you can’t make the event. However, the policy you agree to when you register is “All sales final – no cancellation, refund, or credit. Entry is transferrable to another person for this event only.”
We are truly sorry if you disagree but there are no exceptions to this policy so please don’t ask. Think of your registration like concert tickets or sporting event passes – they get you a seat at a specific place and time for a potentially sold-out event, and that’s all.
If you are having car problems, your best option is to bring a different car. If you find you cannot attend for any other reason, your best option is to sell or give the spot to someone else qualified to participate, then let us know whose name to put on it by 72 hours prior. This policy is financially necessary and part of how we keep our entry fees as low as possible and keep things fair for everyone, thanks for understanding.
Reminder: you do NOT have to be a NASA member to register for this event!
