Rainbow Road Trackcross East
April 5, 2025 @ 8:00 am – April 6, 2025 @ 5:00 pm EDT
Join Out Motorsports at Summit Point Motorsports Park for two days of trackcross on Shenandoah and Washington Circuits! Trackcross is autocross-style competition – fastest driver from point A to point B – but on portions of a racetrack. Bring your daily driver, your track car, or a $2,025 ‘Altimate Challenge Car’ as part of our optional Cheap Car Challenge.
Full event details are below! Click here to register!
Rainbow Road 101
Allowable Cars for Competition
Generally, most vehicles may compete at Trackcross. For insurance purposes, we cannot allow Body on Frame SUVs or trucks. If you are unsure about using a certain vehicle, contact us.
Convertibles are allowed on a case-by-case basis. You must pass the “broomstick test” (click here) in order to drive an approved convertible. No exceptions will be made to this policy and please reach out if considering bringing a convertible.
We will group competition cars into various classes to ensure fair and (ideally!) fun competition. Cars will be split by Stock or Modified (if you’ve upgraded beyond OEM parts, it’s modified) with another split at 200 HP. If things get extraordinarily spicy, we may split ’em further.
Given the nature of these events, your competition car does not have to be registered, tagged, or insured to be driven on public roads. These events are hosted on private property and vehicles may be trailered in to compete.
Competition Format
Cars will be sent from the starting line one at a time, with the goal of running between Start and Finish in the shortest time possible. All times will be logged, and the best single time from each heat will be used for calculating placement in your class.
Your best time from each heat will contribute to your total four-run time for the event, used to calculate final finishing order.
All drivers in a heat get the same number of runs. Should one driver’s actions result in another driver catching them on course or encountering a red-flag scenario, the affected driver will receive a re-run with a clear course. The driver who caused the re-run will not receive another run.
Helmet Requirements
Yes, you need a helmet! All drivers and passengers must have a helmet that meets Snell SA2010 or M2010 or newer standards. Helmets may be purchased or rented at a special Out Motorsports rate from OG Racing in Sterling, Virginia. They’ll work with you even if you’re not local – give ’em a call at 800-934-9112 and mention you’re with us!
Sharing Cars Among Friends
Want to share a car with a friend? Go for it! We allow a maximum of two drivers to share one car. If sharing a car, the first driver shall pick a two-digit number (i.e. 41) and the second driver shall pick the same number, but add a “1” to the start or end (i.e. 141 or 411).
Each driver will get the same number of runs – they are tied to the specific person and not the car itself.
Tech Inspection
All registered competition cars must pass a tech/safety inspection, to be performed trackside before the event goes green. Click here to download and print the Tech Inspection form. We ask that you bring a printed copy of this form with your info filled out to expedite Saturday morning. If your vehicle will not pass based on every item listed on the form, ensure it is fixed before arriving. We cannot issue a refund if your vehicle does not pass tech at the event.
Seat Time vs Working
Everyone will drive in two heats per day, one before lunch and one after. Total number of runs varies by event, but everyone will get the same number. The more spins and off-track excursions people accidentally take, the fewer runs you’ll get. Please do your best to keep control of your car to ensure everyone gets as much seat time as possible! Generally we’ve been able to provide 6 to 8 runs per heat.
You will be assigned to work one heat per day. We’ll share work assignments the week of the event.
Driver Scholarships
We believe in getting more drivers behind the wheel, as these types of events significantly improve your skills on the road, too. In years past, we’ve been able to cover the entry fees and lodging costs for some entrants, allowing participation from folks who otherwise might find these kinds of events a bit of a stretch.
We’re currently confirming the level of funding we have for scholarships this year and will post an application link as soon as possible. Check back here, on social media, and in your email.
‘The Altimate’ Cheap Car Challenge
Back again is our Top-Gear-esque cheap car challenge! This is totally optional but way fun and only a little bit sketchy. Your challenge, should you accept it, is to locate and purchase a competition car for $2,025 or less for The Altimate Challenge. Yes, Nissan Altimas have pushed old Panther-platform Fords and Lincolns aside as “cockroaches of the road” and we’re celebrating their durability and ubiquity this year!
So then, pick a Nissan Altima. Any Altima. Make it safe and bring it. We’ll class ’em by generation and engine. Can someone find a spicy SE-R within budget? Is anyone going for the first-gen? Will someone deviate and bring a Smalltima (a Sentra) or luxurious Maximaltima? We can’t wait to find out.
All drivers who compete in the Cheap Car Challenge will be battling it out for a set of Bridgestone or Firestone tires, mounted and balanced, thanks to our ongoing sponsorship from Bridgestone.

Lodging
We have a hotel room block at the Tru by Hilton in Winchester, VA; approximately 15 minutes from the track. Please click here to book using our group rate of $109/night.
Refunds
We get it – sometimes things come up and you can’t make the event. However, the policy you agree to when you register is “All sales final – no cancellation, refund, or credit. Entry is transferrable to another person for this event only.”
We are truly sorry if you disagree, but there are no exceptions to this policy, so please don’t ask. Think of your registration like concert tickets or sporting event passes – they get you a seat at a specific place and time for a potentially sold-out event, and that’s all.
If you are having car problems, your best option is to bring a different car or co-drive with a friend. If you find you cannot attend for any other reason, your best option is to sell or give the spot to someone else qualified to participate, then let us know whose name to put on it by 72 hours prior. This policy is financially necessary and part of how we keep our entry fees as low as possible and keep things fair for everyone; thanks for understanding.
